Im changing the previous thermostat that goes on the wall furnace the new thermostat has 5 area for wires to?

Qusetions: my previous a single only has two wires where by do i place them the new thermostat has the letters g w r y c i place the white a single within the w then the red a single within the r it did not function the brand name is Dayton make sure you help

Answers:g is for fan
w is for heat
r is for power
y is for air conditioning
c is for that other facet with the power

When you've two stage heating or two stage cooling:

w1 is 1st stage heat
w2 is 2nd stage heat
y1 is for 1st stage cooling
y2 is for 2nd stage cooling

If your alternative thermostat isn't going to have batteries and involves energy to function, then it requires to become driven from the r and c terminals.

Just like GM rims do not match Toyota, you have to have to match the thermostat for your furnace!

Answers:The thermostat you've almost certainly is not compatible together with your furnace. Your furnace almost certainly includes a thermopile that's stored scorching from the pilot flame and generates 750mv (milivolts). maintain the two furnace wires with each other and make sure the furnace is doing work then obtain the appropriate thermostat.

Answers:I replaced mine, and then the thermostat had the identical five locations, also. I, also, only had two wires, however the instructions advised me where by to place them. there have been four unique feasible configurations. All I needed to do was figure out which i used to be to work with.

Re-read the instructions meticulously.
